The current price of an ounce of gold negatvas figures showed falling to $ 200 less than the record set during the day on Tuesday after profit taking by investors after the CME Group raised margins for the second time in the trade of the metal so far this month.
The current price of an ounce of gold showed negative figures falling at a rate 2.2% to quote and settle at $ 1,711.99 compared to $ 1,762.89 the previous day (Price Ounce of Gold Thursday August 25, 2011) price per ounce of gold in the New York market .
On the other hand, the current price of an ounce of silver had negative numbers falling by 1.2% to quote and settle at $ 39.16 per ounce gold price in the same way an ounce of platinum down by 0.9% to list and placed on price per ounce $ 1,785.49 an ounce while palladium fell 0.3% to quote and settle at $ 741.47 per ounce price.

Gold Price Today : Gold Extends Biggest Slump in 18 Months Futures rose as much as 18 percent this month, touching an all-time high of $1,917.90 an ounce on Aug. 23, before erasing most of the gains. The value of a 100-ounce futures contract in New York plunged $10,400 yesterday, more than the $7,425 margin requirement that day, prompting exchange-owner CME Group Inc. to increase the minimum cash deposit on trades.
“It looks nasty, but this is a normal correction given the magnitude of the move,” Matt Zeman, a strategist at Kingsview Financial in Chicago, said in a telephone interview. “The parabolic move finally collapsed.”
Gold futures for December delivery fell $16.10, or 0.9 percent, to $1,741.20 at 11:57 a.m. on the Comex in New York. A close at that price would leave the most-active contract down 8 percent since Aug. 22, the biggest three-day slump since October 2008. In London, gold for immediate delivery was down $18.27, or 1 percent, at $1,741.05.
The metal is in the 11th year of a bull market, the longest winning streak since at least 1920 in London, as investors seek to diversify away from equities and some currencies. Central banks are adding to reserves for the first time in a generation, joining billionaire investors including John Paulson in hoarding bullion. The Federal Reserve has taken the unprecedented step of saying it will keep borrowing costs at almost zero percent at least through mid-2013 to support the economy. Read More

New England braces for slap from Hurricane Irene
While some residents flocked to the supermarket for bottled water and nonperishable food, others rushed to the local hardware store as Hurricane Irene churned northward.
"Our number of customers has tripled in the last day or two as people actually said, 'Wow, this thing is going to happen,'" said Jack Gurnon, owner of a hardware store in Boston's affluent Beacon Hill neighborhood.
State officials throughout the region moved into high gear to prepare for expected flooding, downed trees and possible downed powerlines by calling up members of the National Guard and putting state police officers on standby.

Flashlights, batteries and tape for windows were flying off shelves, but Gurnon said people were worried about flooding and had been scooping up sump pumps as well.

Razer Blade: Eyes-on With the "Future" of PC Gaming
Razer wants to convince you that the future of PC gaming lies in a $2799 laptop. The first "true" gaming laptop, actually -- the pretenders to the throne that've come before might've been laptops capable of playing games, but they believe that Razer Blade is the first to offer real portability, and great performance, without sacrifices. Earlier this week Razer CEO Ming-Liang Tan swung by PCWorld's offices and gave me a sneak peek at a prototype of their first real foray into the PC business. I had to muzzle my inner cynic (Razer Blade? Really?), but ultimately wasn't disappointed. I daresay impressed, even. I can't speak to whether or not this will actually spark a PC gaming renaissance (or if we're even in need of one, really), but Razer is certainly on the right track.
Specs will make or break a gaming system, and the Blade is no slouch. When it starts shipping sometime this holiday season it'll sport a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7-2640M processor, 8GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GT555M discrete graphics card, and a 320GB hard drive. There are no other options, as Razer is only offering one SKU. The decision makes sense: the company purchased an ODM (original device manufacturer) to get full control over the design of their hardware. Limiting the variations keeps things simple -- this is their first PC, so if they're going to keep production up while maintaing quality, they'll want to start small.
You can do better -- the Asus G73SW offers fairly similar guts for about $1650. Razer hopes to make up the cost difference with a focus on design and a strong feature set. The Blade, quite frankly, is gorgeous. It's constructed out of a single slab of aluminum, much like Apple's unibody MacBook Pros. The LED-backlit, 17-inch display is bright and gorgeous. Viewing angles were impressive too -- you likely won't find yourself spending too much time looking at your laptop from extreme angles, but the Blade has you covered.
Luggability likely isn't too high on the list of many a gaming laptop enthusiast -- if you're looking for plenty of raw power, you aren't going to find it in a svelte package. That said, the Blade weighs in at just under 7 pounds, which puts it at the lower end of the desktop replacement category. It's also less than an inch thick, which makes storage and toting it about a feasible prospect. Even the power brick has been redesigned into a teensy slab, making for an all-around totable package.

When you go to the polls this Saturday, you will be electing your next president. Hopefully, with your support, he will be Tan Jee Say. You will not be getting a figure head but someone who is willing to exercise the power given to him. Some people have come out to say the president cannot do this and cannot do that. They made it seemed that the elected president cannot do much except to listen to the cabinet. The president is not that weak. He is elected by you. What he cannot do as a president, he can do so as your representative. He can still listen to you and if need be, to express your concerns.
There may be certain legal constraints on what the president can do or cannot do. Jee Say understands that and will work closely with the government to make sure that this is a better country for all of us. But that does not mean he should be just a rubber stamp.
It would certainly be most absurd for an elected president to be denied the right to think and express opinions like any other citizen, or be disallowed from having his conscience guide him.
The Istana is not a 5-star restriction camp.

Tan Jee Say clarifies job-hopping past in presidential rally speech
Presidential candidate Tan Jee Say dispelled in his presidential rally speech the Internet chatter which said he didn't perform well in his financial sector jobs.
"Things move very fast in the financial sector and you have to be nimble. I've changed jobs three times in about thirteen years. Not too bad a record compared to others in the financial sector," he told the audience.
He then elaborated on his employment history, such as being involved in the privatisation of SingTel when he was working at Morgan Grenfell, reported The Straits Times. His explanations were supported by another speaker earlier in the night.
Mr Basil Hwang, the managing director in a law firm and husband of Singapore Democratic Party's Michelle Lee, had spoken on stage about the queries surrounding Mr Tan Jee Say's switching of jobs. "Some people switch jobs every one to two years," Mr Hwang said. Mr Tan also said in his speech that the elected president needs to exercise his powers independently without fear or favour.
"We have had such a president before and we need one now," he said at the first presidential rally of the campaigning period. Other speakers before Mr Tan included National Solidarity Party (NSP) member Nicole Seah, who took to the stage earlier in the night and recalled how Mr Ong Teng Cheong was the people's president. Jeanette Chong-Aruldoss, also from the NSP, went up on stage to give her support to Mr Tan.
"Of the four candidates, Jee Say is the least partisan and most likely to act independently," she said. She also said that she was confident that if Mr Tan was elected president, he would not be "pro-PAP or pro-Opposition" but "pro-Singaporean". The rally ended with Mr Tan's family joining him on stage for photos. An emcee at the location claimed that there were 30,000 people in the stadium. Read More
